Citizenship.
-
New Zealand citizenship gives you access to a New Zealand passport. Usually you need to have been a New Zealand resident for at least five years, intend to live in New Zealand, been physically present in New Zealand, can speak basic English and be of good character.
Different criteria apply to children and Samoan citizens.
Citizenship applications are assessed by the Department of Internal Affairs (not Immigration New Zealand).
We can assist with assessing your eligibility, preparation and submission of your citizenship application.
